AIR POLLUTION

SubidBazar, Sylhet
After visiting this area the most concerning issues we realized that " Air pollution " Some relevant Pictures are given
below :

Transportation emissions are clearly responsible for air pollution. Some vehicle like cars, buses and truck emit
pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and particular matter. Again some house hold activists of this area
like- cooking, heating and using cleaning products also contribute to indoor air pollution.
Impacts of air pollution in this area
Air pollution can have a wide range of negative impacts on both human health and the environment. Some
of the most significant consequences of air pollution include:
1. Respiratory and cardiovascular health problems: Exposure to air pollution can cause a range of health
problems, including respiratory infections, asthma, and lung cancer. Air pollution can also increase the
risk of heart disease and stroke.
2. Climate change: Air pollution is a major contributor to global climate change, as it leads to the release
of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. This can cause a range of negative
impacts, including rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events, and changes in
ecosystems.

3. Environmental damage: Air pollution can harm plants, animals, and ecosystems, leading to declines in
biodiversity and ecosystem services. This can have negative impacts on agriculture, water quality, and
other natural resources.

4. Economic costs: Air pollution can have significant economic costs, including healthcare expenses, lost
productivity, and damage to infrastructure and property.

5. Social and environmental justice: Air pollution often disproportionately affects low-income and
marginalized communities, leading to social and environmental injustice.
AIR TEMPERATURE
1. Burning of fossil fuels: The burning of coal, oil, and natural gas releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into
the atmosphere.
2. Deforestation: Trees absorb carbon dioxide as part of the process of photosynthesis, so deforestation reduces
the amount of carbon dioxide that can be absorbed from the atmosphere.
IMPACTS OF RISING AIR TEMPERATURES IN THIS AREA

1. More frequent and severe heatwaves: Rising temperatures can lead to more frequent and severe
heatwaves, which can have significant negative impacts on human health, particularly for vulnerable
populations such as the elderly and the very young.

2. Changes in precipitation patterns: As temperatures rise, precipitation patterns can change, leading to more
frequent and severe droughts in some regions and more frequent and severe floods in others.

3. Sea level rise: As temperatures rise, glaciers and ice caps melt, leading to sea level rise. This can have
significant impacts on coastal communities, leading to flooding, erosion, and the loss of important coastal
ecosystems.

4. Changes in ecosystems: Rising temperatures can lead to changes in ecosystems, including changes in the
distribution and abundance of plant and animal species. This can have significant negative impacts on
biodiversity and ecosystem services.

5. Economic costs: Rising temperatures can have significant economic costs, including damage to
infrastructure, property, and agriculture, and increased healthcare expenses.
Sound pollution
Transportation: Vehicles such as cars, trucks, and airplanes are major sources of noise pollution, particularly in
urban areas.
There are two important points in Subidbazar and the road is very narrow. It's not enough for vehicles. That's
why traffic jam always gathered here. In this traffic jam drivers play horn without reason. This horn sound
greatly hampered the inside area and causes sound pollution.
Impacts of sound pollution in this area

1. Hearing damage: Exposure to high levels of noise pollution can cause hearing loss, tinnitus, and other hearing-
related problems. This can have significant negative impacts on quality of life, particularly for people who work
in noisy environments.

2. Sleep disturbance: Noise pollution can interfere with sleep, leading to fatigue, irritability, and other health
problems. This can have negative impacts on productivity and quality of life.

3. Cardiovascular problems: Exposure to high levels of noise pollution has been linked to an increased risk of
cardiovascular problems, including hypertension, heart disease, and stroke.

4. Psychological effects: Noise pollution can cause stress, anxiety, and other psychological problems, particularly
in urban areas where noise levels are high.

5. Environmental damage: High levels of noise pollution can have negative impacts on wildlife, including changes
in behavior and habitat use.
