Introduction
• Nurses play a crucial role in the safe administration of intravenous
chemotherapy, as they are often the frontline providers responsible for
administering chemotherapy.

• Studies have shown that nurses' knowledge regarding safe chemotherapy


administration can be different, some studies indicating that nurses may
have gaps in their knowledge or may not always follow recommended
practices.

Significance
• Abdelgayoom et al. 2022 state that cancer nurses should be well-knowledge
in the administration of chemotherapy drugs. Inadequate knowledge may
contaminate the environment and compromise both patients and nurses.

• Abu Sharour, et al., (2021) another study, published assessed the knowledge
and attitudes of nurses regarding the safe handling of chemotherapy. The
study found that nurses had a good level of knowledge about chemotherapy
safety, but their attitudes toward some safety practices were less positive.

Aim of the study:
Research Objectives:
• To assess the level of knowledge among oncology nurses regarding the safe administration
of intravenous chemotherapy.
• To assess the association between the level of knowledge and demographic characteristics
among oncology nurses regarding the safe administration of intravenous chemotherapy.
Hypothesis:
Alternative Hypothesis: There is an association between the level of knowledge and
demographic characteristics among oncology nurse’s regarding the safe administration of
intravenous chemotherapy.
Null Hypothesis: There is no association between the level of knowledge and demographic
characteristics among oncology nurses regarding the safe administration of intravenous
chemotherapy.

Methodology:
Study design: : Study setting:

The total sample size will be 100. A convenience sampling technique will be used
in this study.

Recruitment Criteria

Inclusion Criteria: All oncology nurses who have more than 6


months of experience.

Exclusion Criteria: Nurses who are not participate in direct


chemotherapy administration (Clinical Nurse Manager, Nursing Lecturer
Practitioner, and Clinical Nursing Instructor).
