Lapai is one of the local government areas of Niger State and hosts the
prestigious IBB University Lapai. It is accessible through Paiko-Lapai
road and Bida-Agaie Lambata road. The study area is characterised by
two seasons: wet and dry seasons. The area records its highest
temperature of about 350C during the dry season (November to March)
while during the rainy season (April to October), the temperature drops
to about 24C. The vegetation type is Guinea Savannah and the area is
mostly dominated by shrubs and grasses sandwiched by tall trees.
METHODOLOGY
Environmental Impact Assessment: Conducting field surveys
and data analysis to assess the environmental footprint of
sachet water packaging, transportation, and disposal in Lapai,
including plastic waste generation, littering, and pollution.
Surveys and Questionnaires: Conducting surveys and
administering questionnaires to households, retailers, and
distributors in Lapai to gather quantitative data on sachet water
consumption patterns, preferences, and perceptions.
Interviews and Focus Groups: Organizing semi-structured
interviews and focus group discussions with key stakeholders,
including consumers, producers, regulators, and community
leaders, to gain insights into their experiences, attitudes, and
perspectives on sachet water distribution and consumption.
