Speaking Task:

SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS


Task Rationale:
The objective of this task is to give you practice in answering questions based on
a complex topic. This is also to give you an opportunity to practise the units
discussed in this theme, which were:

●Fluency: Stress and Intonation


●Fluency: Discourse Markers
●Fluency: 4-3-2
Instructions:

1. You will be asked to talk on a topic. There are two parts to this task.
2. In Part 1, choose two ‘FOR’ points and two ‘AGAINST’ points to discuss.
3. You will have 2 minutes to prepare your response.
4. You will then have 2 minutes to present ALL your points.
5. In Part 2, you will be given an impromptu question in which you have to
answer immediately. The question will be on the same topic as that of Part 1.
You will have 1 minute to respond.
