Problems with Plastic

Plastic is harmful to all living things.

The way plastic is made releases harmful gases into the air.

Plastic is usually buried in huge landfill sites. It lasts for a very


long time. It can not decompose like vegetables, fruit or meat.

Plastic in our oceans is dangerous to a wide range of sea life. Animals get confused and eat
plastic because they think it is food. They get trapped in litter and are hurt or even die.

You Can Make a Difference

We can all help to clean up the planet, by making small changes.

Make sure all of the plastic you use at home is


recycled.

Reuse drinks bottles and food containers.

Use non-plastic reusable bags.

Avoid littering and use bins, especially recycling bins.

Take part in litter picks.
