AULD LANG SYNE

• AULD LANG SYNE is a popular traditional song being


typically sung on New Year’s Eve. It was a poem first
transcribed by Robert Burns although, according to him,
it is ancient song. The meaning of Auld Lang Syne is
“For Old Time Sake or Times Long Past.”
• As the new year dawns, Auld Lang Syne invites to look ahead to
the future-to make plans, to create resolutions. But this song is a
reminder also to consider the past. It is suppose to capture a
conversation between two old acquaintances catching up after a
long time apart. Such connections are nice to rekindle.
