01-LATITUDE
• Latitude affects climate is through the amount of
solar energy a place receive
• Different latitudes receive different amounts of solar
radiationes
• This alone determines day length, seasonality, and to
a large extent, climate.
02-ALTITUDE
• The higher the altitude, the colder the
climate becomes.
• This is because the air at higher
altitudes is less dense and contains less
moisture, which makes it more difficult
to retain heat.
• High-altitude regions tend to have
cooler temperatures, with lower
humidity levels.
03-PRESSURE
AND WIND
SYSTEM
• The pressure and wind system of
any area depends on the latitude and
altitude of the place.
• It influencences the temperature and
rainfall pattern.
• The Low pressure and High pressure
defines the direction of the wind.
04-DISTANCE
FROM THE SEA
• The sea exerts moderating influence on
climate.
• As the distance from the sea
increase,it's moderating influence
decrease and the people experience
extreme weather conditions
• This condition is know as continentality
( i.e. very hot during Summers and very
hot during winters )
O5-OCEAN
CURRENTS
• Ocean currents along with onshore
winds affect the climate of the coastal
areas.
• Warm currents raise the temperature of the
areas adjacent to them.
• Colder currents lower the temperature of
the areas adjacent to them.
06-RELIEF
FEATURE
• High mountains act as barrier for cold and
hot winds.
• They may also cause precipitation if they
are high enough and lie in the path of rain
bearing winds.
• The leeward side mountain remains
relatively dry.
