Conclusion :
It was found that β-sitosterol can regulate endometrial receptivity and sex hormone balance in PCOS -like
mice, which may be related to its regulation effect on gut microbiota. At the same time, β-sitosterol-treated mice feces
transplanted into PCOS-like mice, also contributed to the improvement of PCOS. Results suggested that β-sitosterol has a
good clinical application prospect in the treatment of PCOS.
CONCLUSION
In the disease nashtapushpa, there is mainly derangement of vata. Reason of vata vitiation here
may be due to the margarodha of vata by kapha ie avruta apana vayu.
Treatment of avrta apana vata should be agni deepana, grahi ,vatanulomana and pakwashaya
shudhikara according to charaka.
Kumaryasava produce the specific target action on the Garbhashaya, Arthava Dhatu and
Apanavata.
Asava in general is kaphavata hara
Beta sitosterol being the major chemical constituent in the asava(around 11 drugs), from the
earlier slides its clear that this constituent has a good clinical application prospect in the
treatment of PCOS ie Nashtapushpa.
A CLINICAL COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF KUMARYASAVA AND
RAJAHPRAVARTANI VATI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PRATHMIK KASTARTAVA W.S.R. TO (PRIMARY
DYSMENORRHOEA): A PROSPECTIVE OPEN LABEL SINGLE CENTER STUDY
To compare and evaluate the efficacy and safety of Kumaryasava with Rajahpravartani Vati in the patients suffering from Prathmik-
Kashtartava.
50 patients were divided into two groups (A and B) with twenty five patients in each. Patients of group A were administered Kumaryasava 20
ml with equal amount of water and that of group B were administered tab Rajahpravartini vati (125 mg) 2BD after meal with normal water
before 7 days of menses and during menstrual cycle. Total duration of course of medicine was 3 consecutive cycles. Follow-up was done at
every menstrual cycle during the treatment and follow- up without treatment was done for next three cycles.
RESULT:
After three month of treatment, in both groups the baseline pain was found to be improved in
every cycle. But when the overall result was observed highly significant results were found in group B
in comparison to group A. The effect of Kumaryasava on associated symptoms was found to be more
than Rajahpravartini vati.
Cases in Group A including both the subgroups were given 15 ml each of draksharishtam and lohasavam twice
daily. Cases in Group B were given 15ml each of kumaryasavam and draksharishtam twice daily after food. The
drugs were administered for three consecutive months for both the groups.
RESULT:
Serum progesterone level did not vary in group A. But in group B,there was significant increase in the level along with
regularisation of menstruationn among the cases of secondary amenorrhoea.
