FOUNDATION OF ITC
• It was founded in 1910, with its origins tracing back to the
establishment of the Imperial Tobacco Company of India
Limited. In 1910, as a response to a growing demand for
cigarettes in India, the British-based Imperial Tobacco
Company formed a subsidiary known as the Imperial
Tobacco Company of India Limited.
• ITC's primary objective was to manufacture and sell
cigarettes in India. However, the company soon expanded
its product offerings to include various brands of cigarettes,
cigars, and other tobacco-related products to cater to a
diverse market.
