FLOW THROUGH OPEN

CHANNEL

An open channel is a passage through which the Water flows under the
force of gravity or atmospheric pressure. When the surface of the channel
is in contact with atmosphere the it is called channel. These can man-
made as well as natural .

Here we will discuss about mainly two types of open channel.

These two are : 1. Rectangular Open Channel
2. Trapezoidal Open Channel
Trapezoidal Open Rectangular Open
Channel Channel
To know about the discharge through an open we mainly use
three formulas . These are as follows :
1. Chezy's Formula
2. Bazin's Formula
3. Mannings Formula

Understanding the flow through open channel and the associated formula
is crucial for hydraulic engineers to design efficient and sustainable water
management systems
