JOHARI WINDOW
• Is a psychological tool that helps
MODEL individuals and teams understand
their relationships and improve
communication. It consists of four
quadrants that represent different
aspects of knowledge about oneself
and others.
1. OPEN AREA
This represents information known to both the
individual and others. In a project team context,
expanding the Open Area can enhance understanding
and reduce conflicts. Strategies include:

• Transparent communication - Encourage team


members to openly share their thoughts, feelings,
and expectations about tasks and roles.
• Feedback Mechanism - Establish regular feedback
loops where team members provide constructive
feedback to each other..
2. BLIND SPOT
This contains information known to others but not to the
individual. Strategies includes.
- Seek Feedback
Encourage team members to actively seek feedback from
others. This helps in uncovering blind spots and understanding
how their actions and communication styles are perceived by
others.
- Active Listening
Develop skills in active listening to better understand others'
perspectives and fill in blind spots. This reduces the chances of
misunderstandings caused by assumptions or misinterpretations.
3. HIDDEN
This includes information known to the individual but not to

• Gradual Disclosure - Encourage team members to
gradually disclose relevant information about
themselves, such as personal preferences, working styles,
and strengths.
• Building Trust - Foster a supportive team environment
where individuals feel safe to share personal information
when appropriate.
