TEXTILE BATIK
3 Known Batik Process:
1. Hand drawn (Batik tulis) – they use a pen called Canting. It takes 6
months to 1 year to finish one piece.
2. Stamp Batik - is the cheaper alternative for batik making. They use a
stamp dipped into a wax pot. This process is faster and more
affordable.
3. Print (silkscreen) – Artist and craftsmen prefer to call silkscreen not
Batik but textile with Batik print.
SCULPTURE
1. Dastar – a piece of
cloth tied around
the head.
2. Sangkok or
Kopiah –
a type of cap
made of velvet.
3. Tangkolok or
Serban – a typical
headdress in the
Middle East
resembling as a
turban.
