Demonstration method can be defined


as, “Visualized explanation of facts,
concept and procedure.”

USES OF DEMONSTRATION METHOD

• To demonstrate experiments and the


use of experimental equipment in the
laboratory, classroom & the ward.

• To teach/demonstrate the patient a


procedure or treatment which he must
carryout in the home.

• Stimulates interest of the learners by use of
concrete illustration.

LIMITATIONS OF
DEMONSTRATION METHOD
• No useful if the students are inattentive.

• Number of students is limited.

• High cost in personnel & time

• Needed teacher’s mastery level of skill for


demonstration.

WAY TO OVERCOME THE
LIMITATIONS OF THE
DEMONSTRATION METHOD
• Every step of a well conducted
demonstration should be understandable
and exemplary.
• All equipment should be assembled and
pretested.
• The students as well as demonstrator should
have advance knowledge of the general
procedure.

should be done on a live model wherever
possible.
• Student should be given an opportunity to
practice the procedure as soon as possible
after demonstration.
• Student should be given an opportunity for
