• The male reproductive system, being generally outside of the body, is
more obvious than the female reproductive system; • there are, however, internal and external structures. • They work in unison with other body systems (e.g. the neuroendocrine system), make the hormones • that are essential in biological development and sexual behaviour, performance and actions . • In male, these organs are also central in the function of the urinary system. • The major structures of the male reproductive system include: • the external genitalia, incorporating the penis, scrotum, • the testes and a number of ducts responsible for the transportation of the sperm from the testes to the penis and outside the body; • there are also two seminal vesicles, bulbourethral glands and the prostate gland. • There are a number of functions that are associated with the male reproductive system: • To produce, maintain and transport the sperm (the male reproductive cells) and the semen; • to manufacture and secrete the male sex hormones. • to eject sperm from the penis;
