Easterine Kire

Easterine Kire was born on 29 March


1959 in Kohima, which is part of
the Nagaland region in northeastern India.
She belongs to an Angami Naga family
from Kohima Village. Easterine Kire
currently resides in northern Norway, but the
majority of her writings are deeply rooted in
the lived realities of the people in Nagaland.
Why do the Norway Lights
happen in the north?

Earth's magnetic field brings the charged


particles towards the earth's poles. The
shape of earth's magnetic field makes two
auroral ovals above the North and South
magnetic poles, that is why Norway lights
occur almost every night in the Norway sky,
from August to May.

colours in the sky that are usually different shades of blue, purple, and
sometimes even pink

tiny flashes that fill the sky
with colourful light. As
billions of flashes occur in
sequence, the auroras
appear to "dance" in the

worth a cold night out when visiting the
high Norway or southern latitudes.
