What is
Censorship?
Censorship is the suppression or
prohibition of any parts of books, films,
news, etc. that are considered obscene,
politically unacceptable, or a threat to
security.

Censorship is necessary in our society for many
different reasons. It protects nations, prevents
conflict in society, it protects the
morals/privacy of people, and it is also helpful
for children.

Social issues are topics or subjects that
impact many people and have a negative
effect.

Cinderella:
Early versions of Cinderella were far more
gruesome. The wicked stepsisters mutilated
themselves to fit the slipper, and birds
pecked out their eyes.
Cinderella:
When it came time for the shoe fitting, the
step sisters cut off their toes and parts of
their heels to try to get it to fit them. During
the royal wedding, both sisters had their
eyes pecked out by pigeons, cursed with
blindness for the rest of their days.
Rapunzel:
The 1812 version of Rapunzel shows and
adult who abducted, imprisoned and
exploited a child. This part of the story has
been criticized for it's portrayal of women.

Riding Hood:
The story ends with the wolf eating both
Little Red Riding Hood and her
grandmother, and there is no happy
ending.
