MOBILE SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

Responsibility for payment of sat phone calls:


 Maintain and update call log sheets with the details of
official and private calls
 Collect money in USD from the individuals who made
private calls
 Close the call logs as on last date of every month

COMMUNICATIONS AT TEAM SITES

 Satellite phone, FAX, HF and VHF must be kept


powered on 24 hours

 Ensure Radio check is conducted with respective


HQs at designated timings

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
 Team Site Leaders must ensure that
communication equipment is installed in a
secure location
 Need for periodic inspection and maintenance of
equipment (eg. dusting, checking power,
connections and batteries will enhance
equipment reliability)
 Avoid moving any equipment once installed
either in a vehicle or building

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

 Only authorized and technically qualified


personnel to handle the equipment

 During thundering, with the prior permission


from the control, sets may be switched off for
certain period

 The serial number or the bar-code should not


be removed from any UN-owned equipment

REPORTING AND INVESTIGATION

The report should include the following:

 Type of the equipment, UN bar- code and serial


number
 Place of occurrence and time
 The person who was in charge and operating the
equipment
 Nature of fault
 The circumstances to include technical reasons for the
fault
 The recommendations of TL

Get oriented with all CITS communications equipment

Do not move without communication

Conduct your radio check regularly (establish reporting


points)

Do not abuse the communication facility

Be careful while handing/taking over of communications


equipment
