YES!YOU GOT IT RIGHT-IT’S
GPS
• GPS stands for global positioning system
and was actually a military invention. It's
first name for Navstar, and the first satellite
was launched in 1978.
• It became fully functional in 1995 and was
first used in cars Today it is managed by
US Air Force
• The system uses signals transmitted by
orbiting satellites to pinpoint a device's
location and determine any movement over
time, when combined with other
technology, such as maps, and
incorporated into navigational systems, it
becomes a very powerful tool.
• Originally developed by the US
Department of Defense for military use,
GPS is now widely commercially available
to the public, often incorporated into
products such as stand alone or built-in
navigation devices for road vehicles and
boats, as well as apps for smartphones.

• By measuring the amount of time taken by radio signal (the GPS) to travel from the satellite
to the receiver.
• fiadio waves travel at the speed of Light i.e. about 186,000 miles per second.
• The distance from the satellite to the receiver can be determined by the formula -

CONCLUSION OF
GPS
GPS is very useful adventure.
GPS devices are perfect for water navigation.
Though it has some limitations, it is not considered as a big error.
It is so because these errors are very nano errors.
GPS is the most advanced, accurate, commercially available and multi use satellite
navigation system that has ever been existed.
In Military Applications, it is the only system relied upon in providing data to very expensive
guided weapons.
