 APA ITU CAHAYA ?
Cahaya merupakan gelombang elektromagnetik, yaitu gelombang yang tidak memerlukan Medium sebagai
media perambatan. Cahaya dihasilkan oleh suatu sumber cahaya dengan Panjang gelombang 400-600 nm.

SIFAT-SIFAT CAHAYA
Cahaya merupakan radiasi elektromagnetik sehingga ia memiliki sifat seperti gelombang yaitu :

1. Memiliki arah rambatan yang lurus secara natural, arah rambatan sebuah berkas cahaya
akan cenderung lurus. Arah rambat cahaya akan berubah ketika ada gangguan dari medium
rambat, pergerakan sumber cahaya, dsb.

2. Dapat dipantulkan (Refleksi) ketika cahaya dari udara (Medium 1) menyinari sebuah
permukaan kaca (Medium 2) maka ada dua peristiwa yang terjadi yaitu cahaya tersebut akan
dipantulkan dan juga dibiaskan. Sudut datang sinar akan memiliki besar yang sama dengan
sudut refleksi.

3. Dapat disearahkan (Polarisasi) cahaya normal (Natural) merambat ke segala arah tegak
lurus dengan arah rambatannya. Jika cahaya terbatas untuk hanya merambat di satu
arah bidang, maka cahaya tersebut dikatakan terpolarisasi.

4. Dapat dibiaskan (Refraksi). Pembiasan merupakan perubahan arah
cahaya datang yang merambat dari sebuah medium ke yang lain.

untuk gelombang cahaya yang berbeda hal ini merupakan cara mata kita untuk melihat
warna benda disekitar kita.
