PURPOSE OF A FAIRY TALE
Fairy tales are a genre of literature that is clearly defined by common elements. They
have roots in oral tradition and storytelling. These types of stories are common to
every culture, and they usually teach life lessons that are aligned with the values of
that particular region.
Fairy tales are important because they spark the imagination. They give us an outlet
for experiencing things in our minds before we experience them in the real world. It is
where the troubles of the real world can meet the supernatural and mix things up.
Fairy tales are meant to entertain, but that’s secondary. Unlike today’s novels, their
main purpose is to give a moral in a way the audience will remember. They exist to
teach a clear lesson.
Some morals that I learnt are spreading kindness to others, selfish desire is dangerous
and if you are brave and truthful, and you listen to your conscience, you will find
salvation.
