The Literal level
● The literal level focuses on
reading the passages, hearing
the words or viewing images. It
involves identifying the
important and essential
information.
● It can help in distinguishing
between the important and less
important details.
The Interpretative Level
1. At the interpretative level, the focus shifts to READING
BETWEEN THE LINES, looking at what is IMPLIED by the
material under study.
2. It requires activities that combine pieces of information in
order to make inferences about the author’s intent and
message.
Tasks:
● Drawing Inferences
● Tapping into prior knowledge
● Attaching New Learning to old information
● Making Logical heaps and educated guesses
● Reading between the lines to determine what is
meant by what is stated.
