Clean Waters: Remote-

Controlled Aqua Boat in
Sual, Pangasinan
PRESENTED BY GROUP 1
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION

Water pollution, exacerbated by inefficient cleaning

technology and materials in the Philippines, is a
pressing issue as 44% of global wastewater is released
back untreated, posing risks to both aquatic
ecosystems and human health (Filipenco, 2024).

IMPORTANCE OF THE
STUDY
The following are the beneficiaries of this study:

➤ Residents in Sual Pangasinan

➤ Fishermen
➤ Environment
➤ School organizations
➤ Environmental organizations
➤ Government
➤ Researchers
➤ Future Researcher
SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
➤ The remote-controlled Aqua Boat has limitations; it can't
run properly on bodies of water with rough waves. The
remote-controlled Aqua Boat can only collect water
impurities like plastics, trashes, and water debris which are
floating on lakes and pond surfaces.

RESULTS AND
FINDINGS
EXISTING
PROCEDURES
Based on the Focus Group Discussion, the existing
Procedures of BKD, YES-O, and SSLG in Sual, Pangasinan
were as follows:

Collecting Wastewater

➤ Organizations BKD, SSLG, and YES-O in Sual

Pangasinan use systematic methods for wastewater
collection during clean-up drives and advocacy initiatives.
➤ They conduct thorough assessments of targeted areas to
identify sources of contamination and divide them into
manageable sections.

➤ Volunteers prioritize safety and environmental protection,

using personal protective equipment like gloves and boots to
minimize exposure to harmful contaminants.
Equipment

➤ Equipment selection is based on practicality, accessibility,

and suitability for the local context.
➤ Collected waste is segregated for proper disposal or
recycling, contributing to environmental sustainability.
➤ Manual methods, involving tools like nets, rakes, and
shovels, are employed depending on the size and
accessibility of water bodies.

➤ Volunteers use protective gear and are trained to handle

wastewater responsibly to minimize exposure to harmful
contaminants.
PROBLEMS
ENCOUNTERED
Cleaning Wastewater

The problems encountered in cleaning wastewater of BKD,

SSLG, and YES-O are as follows:

a)Insufficient access to treatment facilities

b)Financial constraints for effective treatment solutions
c)Limited community engagement and education
Solutions Adopted in Cleaning Wastewater :

Establish community-driven treatment facilities in

collaboration with local governments and embrace eco-
friendly practices in wastewater treatment facilities.
Equipment

The problems encountered in equipment of BKD, SSLG, and

YES-O are as follows:
a) Outdated equipment
b) Capacity limitations for treatment activities
Solutions Adopted in Equipment:

Upgrade existing equipment with modern, efficient

technologies to improve treatment capabilities and create
environmentally-friendly and recyclable cleaning materials
that are accessible and practical.

The use of inexpensive and widely available components
can result in usability that is capable of performing
serious tasks, including environmental monitoring
missions (Kolev, 2021).

Weighted Mean 3.63 SA
Reliability is a critical factor in the design and operation
of remote-controlled aqua boats, as it directly affects the
accuracy and consistency of the data collected and the
overall success of the mission (Wang et al.,2023).

3.The prototype Aqua Boat is durable with its structure.
Weighted Mean 3.05 A
The need for durable materials to withstand frequent
exposure to water, corrosive elements, and various
obstacles such as trash, natural features is important. The
importance of maintaining buoyancy directly impacts the
device's ability to float andmaneuver in the water
(Josselyn, 2021).

RELIABILITY 3.63 SA
FUNCTIONALITY 3.45 SA
DURABILITY 3.05 A
Weighted Mean 3.49 SA
It is crucial to specify NFRs (Non-Functional
Requirements) correctly, completely, and without
ambiguity, and to quantify them to ensure that they are
measurable and testable (Jafari, 2020).
CONCLUSIONS
1. The study discovered that school organizations in
Sual, Pangasinan (SNHS), employ manual techniques
like nets and shovels to gather wastewater during clean-
up drives, emphasizing environmental preservation and
participant safety, thus enhancing regional sustainability
efforts.
2. In terms of cleaning wastewater, challenges include
insufficient access to treatment facilities, financial
constraints for effective treatment solutions, and limited
community engagement and education. Regarding
equipment, challenges revolve around outdated
equipment andcapacity limitations for treatment
activities.
3. Based on the summary of results, the Non-Functional
Requirements demonstrate a strong consensus, with a
weighted mean of 3.49% (Strongly Agree). This indicates
a high level of agreement, highlighting the significance
and alignment of these requirements with the project's
goals.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. The researchers recommend applying the prototype Aqua Boat to
further assist and improve the clean-up drives conducted by the BKD,
SSLG, and YES-O.

2. The researchers recommend seeking support from the LGU to help

conduct wastewater cleaning.

3. The researchers recommend that future researchers improve the

prototype Aqua Boat in terms of its hardware, proponents, and overall
appearance for better performance and a more appealing design.
