INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The study focuses on investigating how group dynamics influence peer
pressure among 2nd year BS Psychology Students at Lyceum of
Alabang for the school year 2023-2024. It aims to analyze the
demographic profile of respondents and the impact of peer pressure on
group dynamics to contribute to existing research. The study is limited
to this specific group of students and solely examines the relationship
between group dynamics and perceived peer pressure, excluding
unrelated factors.
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
It incorporates Social Identity Theory by Tajfel and Turner and Group
Dynamics by Lewin to understand group identity, conformity, roles, and
behaviors within a group. The study's significance lies in its potential to
benefit students, teachers, parents, administrators, and future researchers
by improving academic achievement, mental health, and peer
relationships through understanding peer pressure in group settings. The
researchers expect to demonstrate the influence of group dynamics on
perceived peer pressure through this study.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
Social Identity Theory explains that people identify with a group
and conform to its rules, values, and behaviors, they take on the identity
of that group, according to social identity theory. Peer pressure is
directly related to this since it forces people to live up to group norms in
order to feel accepted and like they belong in the group.
CONCETUAL FRAMEWORK
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to determine the relationship between academic
performance and peer pressure to the students of BS Psychology 22A2
of Lyceum of Alabang Year 2023-2024. Specifically, this study seeks to
answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 Age
1.2 Gender

2. What does it mean to be peer pressured?

3. How does peer pressure affects group dynamics of the students?
4. What are the common things that students get peer pressured about?
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
This study will only be applicable to the 2nd year students of
Psychology Department of Lyceum of Alabang. The researchers will
only cover the relationship between perceived peer pressure and group
dynamics of the students and will not cover other problems that are not
consider as correlation to the study.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study is significant to the following.

• Students
• Faculty
• Administration
• Parents
• Future Researchers
DEFINITION OF TERMS

GROUP DYNAMICS
• According to Unit 10 (n.d.), it is the social process by which people
interact and behave in a group environment is called group dynamics.
It involves the influence of personality, power, and behaviour on the
group process. It is operationally defined as the social process which
the 2nd Year BS Psychology students interact and behave in a group
environment is called group dynamics. It involves the influence of
personality, power, and behaviour on the group process.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

PEER PRESSURE
• According to MSc, E. H. B. (2024), it is the process by which
members of the same social group influence other members to do
things that they may be resistant to, or might not otherwise choose to
do. It is operationally defined as the process by the 2 nd Year BS
Psychology students of the same social group influence other
members to do things that they may be resistant to, or might not
otherwise choose to do.
SYNTHESIS
They found that group dynamics significantly influence perceived peer
pressure, especially in academic settings. The studies discussed various
aspects such as teamwork, group formation, blended learning, team-
based learning, negative impacts of peer pressure, and learning behavior
influenced by peer pressure.
METHODOLOGY
The researchers will use an experimental method in which the
independent variable is group dynamics and the dependent variables is
peer pressure. The objective of an experimental study design is to
establish a cause-and-effect relationship. An experimental research aims
to control and measure the extent to which a treatment leads to a clearly
defined outcome.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
To require participants, researchers has to comply to their
research's code of ethics, and researchers discovered that many students
are still unconcerned with the ethical issue in their research, despite the
fact that they all agree that the ethical issue must be addressed during
the interview. Informed consent is a principle in which researchers must
tell the participants who they are, indicate the purpose of the visit, and
include a research permit before asking the participants to sign a
consent form.
POPULATION AND SAMPLE SIZE
The respondents of the study must be a 2nd Year BS Psychology
student at Lyceum of Alabang for the school year 2023 – 2024. But they
must be nineteen (19) years old and above to be part of this study.
STATISTICAL TREATMENT
The data that will be gathered by the researchers will be
categorized according to the problems formulated in the research
design, for the purpose of presenting, summarizing, and analyzing clear
and precise data. The following statistical treatments are to be used:

The t-test determines whether the mean of two groups is

statistically different from one another. This methodology can be
beneficial when it comes wish to compare the means of two groups,
notably for the posttest-only two-group randomized experimental
design.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
This research focuses on determining whether group dynamic and
peer pressure of 2nd year psychology student have impact. In order to
fulfill this, the researchers will use a set of questions to interview the
participants. The set of questionnaires will be use to collect information
from participants regarding their experiences and opinions.
