•Which of the color spectrum has the

highest frequency?
•Which has the lowest frequency?
•How does frequency relate to its
wavelength and the colors of light?
Primary Colors of Light
Objectives:

• 1. Identify the primary colors of

light;
• 2. Observe how primary colors
combine to form other colors;
and
• 3. Cite a situation wherein
colors sometimes are confusing.
•What are the primary colors of light?
•When mixing these primary colors,
what will be the resulting color?
•Do activity 3 part 3: Combining Colors on
pages 233-234 of the LM.
•If we combine red and blue, green and blue,
red and green, what will be the resulting
colors?
•If the resulting colors will be combined with
each other, what will be its resulting color?
•How do the colors of light mixed to form
another color?
•Base on your observation, is there other
color can be made when we combine the
resulting colors with the primary colors or
light? What are these?
• Newton discovered that by mixing two
differently colored rays of light it could
produce other colors. When Newton
projected light beams from different
prisms onto a white background, he
found that sometimes the new color
looked like one of the other colors of
the spectrum. But colors could also be
created in this way that did not look
like any of the spectral colors.
• He found that he could often obtain
white light by mixing the beams of
three different colors. Almost all
colors can be matched by three
beams of differently colored light.
In other words, a combination of
one of the red, a green, and a blue
will produce the greatest range of
colors.
• For this reasons red, green, and
deep blue are called the primaries
for additive color mixing, or
additive primaries. These three
colors are used more than any
other combination of colors to
mix colored light beams.
•Is color mixing important to us? Why?
•What situation do you know wherein mixing
of colors is present?
•Arrange the scrambled letters in column A
to form a word that corresponds to the given
