WHEN CLASSIFIED ACCORDING TO THE

MOOD AND FINANCIAL STATUS OF
GRADE 11 ABM STUDENTS OF
CAPIZ NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

OBJECTIVES
1. To know what is the most reliable source of information
among Books and Internet as source of preferences when
classified according to students emotions or mood and
financial status?
2. What is the common reason why they preferred to read
books than to search in the internet same as why is
internet much more reliable than using books?
3. Is there a significant difference to the extent of using
Books and Internet as source of preferences when
classified according to students’ emotions and financial
status?
HYPOTHESIS
Based on the previously mentioned, the
following hypothesis will be subjected to
empirical testing.
There is no significant preferred choice
of sources of the students and there is no
significant relationship when classified
according to student’s emotions or mood and
financial status.
RESEARCH PARADIGM
Independent Dependent
Variable Variable
• Mood • Preferred source of
information of Grade 11
• Financial Accountancy Business
& Management students
Status on their academic
studies.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The foremost purpose of the study is to determine the
preferred source of information when classified according to
the mood and financial status of Grade 11 Accountancy
Business and Management students of Capiz National High
School.
Generally speaking this study used the mix method
of research as its research methodology. Mix method is a
methodology for conducting research that involves
collecting, analyzing and integrating quantitative and
qualitative research. This study used the mix method
because the research used questionnaire for their
quantitative data and interview for its qualitative data.
Research design refers to the over-all plan for collecting
data in order to answer the specific problem and also the specific
data analysis techniques or methods that the researcher intends to
use (Fraenkel, Wallen, & Hyun, 2012)
For its research design this study will be use the descriptive
correlational research design that will elaborated by the responses
of the interviewees. Descriptive research is defined as a research
method that describes the characteristics of the population or
phenomenon that is being studied. On the other hand
correlational is defined as a type of non-experimental research
method, in which the researcher’s measures two variables,
understands and assesses the statistical relationship between them
with no influence from any extraneous variable. To be more
specific the research design are as follows:
For specific problem No.1, description of extent of the students
using Internet and Books for the academic studies when classified
according to their mood and financial status. Descriptive research was
used because it discusses the extent of the students’ mood and
financial status in their academic studies.
For specific problem No.2, common reason why students make
choices as according to their mood and financial status in their
academic studies. Correlational research was being used because it
explains about the relationship between student mood, financial status
and their common reasons.
For specific problem No.3, significant difference in the extent of
choices of students for their sources of information to their academic
studies when classified according to their mood and financial status.
This study was correlational because it explains about the difference
between students choices of sources of information in connection in
their mood and financial status.
RESPONDENTS/SAMPLES OF THE STUDY

The respondents of this study are the Grade 11

students of Accountancy, Business and Management
(ABM) of Capiz National High School. Gathered
from Senior High School program, which the total
population of ABM strand is 82. It is composed of
two (2) sections namely: Peace which has 42 and
Harmony which has 40. Using the Slovin’s Formula
(1960), the sample size of the study was obtained
from that formula as follows:
SAMPLING PROCEDURE
After computing the number of
respondents that will serve as
representatives of Accountancy, Business
and Management (ABM) of Capiz National
High School, Fish bowl method will be
used. Fish bowl method is a form of method
that can be use when discussing within
large groups.
THE RESEARCH
INSTRUMENTS
The research instruments to be used is
adapted and modified ready-made
questionnaires (Angold, A., et.al 1995) to be
given to the grade 11 students of
Accountancy, Business and Management
(ABM) of Capiz National High School.
DATA-GATHERING PROCEDURE
The researchers will obtain permission from
the office of the Assistant Principal for curriculum
of Capiz National High School Senior High School
department to collect data from 83 respondents of
Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM)
students. The researchers will personally distribute
the questionnaires to the respondents, once the
respondents have finished answering
questionnaires, it will be retrieved automatically.
STATISTICAL TOOL

For the data analysis

procedure of the quantitative
aspect of this research, mean and
standard deviation will be used.
VALIDITY
In this study content validity will be used. Content validity,
sometimes called logical or rational validity, is the estimate of how
much measure represents every single element of a construct
(Shuttleworth,2018).
The instrument will be evaluated for its content validity by five
lecturers at Capiz National High School who are experts in
evaluating students in their academic studies. Each item will be
evaluated for appropriateness with its related construct.
Modification and revision of the contents of the instruments were
done following suggestions and recommendations of the experts.
Pre-testing study was performed twice to test the reliability of
ready-made questionnaires using 5 independent subjects who had
similar criteria as the final samples.
RELIABILITY
Reliability is the state of being free
from error and has consistency that is
being expected from it (Smith and
Howell 1994). Cronbach Alpha
coefficient will be used to measure the
reliability of the questionnaire since it
used 4 point scale.

CONCLUSION
From the analysis it was found that:
• Most students in both section of Peace and Harmony in the
strand of Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM)
are affected by their mood when assisting themselves
whether to use rather reading books than using and
searching in internet in their Academic Performances.
• Some of them prefer to kill their time through reading from
books since for the reason that they can hit two birds with
one stones saying that it can improve their reading
comprehension and at the same time learning some
informative knowledge as well.
• Most students prefer using internet since
it is much more easier and convenient for
them they say because their financial is
enough to pay for the expenses and at
the same time spend their remaining
time doing things that they usually does
to kill boring time situations.
• They have significant relationship in
determining which sources to use
whenever they want or in the mood and
depending to their financial status.
• The common reason why some students
are sometimes are being tardy and lazy to
rad from books is that they find it a bit
out of style for them not when they are
using internet they feel superior and on
top.
RECOMMENDATIONS
On the basis of present study some recommendations for
students from the schools are drawn as follows:
• Necessarily this study can be more reliable and
accountable by using a better analization and measuring
techniques.
• It would be worthwhile for all stake holders in education
i.e. parents, teachers, school administration to encourage
students in their respective areas of responsibilities, such
as providing study materials and better place that can sate
the eyes of students for the wide array of sources for their
academic studies when classified according to mood and
financial status.
• Students should be thought study skills in a place where
they will be motivated to study well so they can cultivate
what are their preferred sources to use for their academic
studies when classified in accordance to their mood and
financial status.
• Parents should be more attentive with their children when
it comes to their performances in school and they should
know that most students are more relaxed and calm when
their study environment is of their likings also parents
should be the first one to give courage to their children to
read more from books whether it is academic form or in
fiction form since both can give stock of knowledgeable
information for their kids than using internet as search
engine to find answers for their Academic studies.
