PAST TENSE

Background
Dalam bahasa Inggris ada Past Tense,
sedangkan bahasa Indonesia kalaupun ada tak
perlu dipelajari, karena kata kerjanya tidak
berubah. Seperti Present Tense, maka Past
Tense ini pun terbagi 4: Ada yang Simple Past
atau disebut Past Tense saja, ada yang
Past Continuous Tense, Past Prefect Tense dan
Past Perfect Continuous Tense.
Simple past tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja
sederhana untuk menunjukkan bahwa suatu
kejadian pernah terjadi maupun merupakan
kebiasaan dimasa lampau. Selain itu, tense ini
juga digunakan pada if conditional tipe 2.
Limitation of Problem
Catatan:
Perubahan Verb-2 (past tense) mengacu pada aturan
regular dan irregular verb.
kata kerja yang digunakan merupakan transitive dan
intransitive.
Pemilihan auxiliary verb pada kalimat interogatif
mengacu pada aturan kalimat negatif.
Bare infinitive merupakan Verb-1 dalam bentuk
sederhana (tanpa tambahan s atau es walaupun untuk
subjek orang ketiga tunggal).

Dalam Past Tense ada 3 rumus :

Positif:
S + V2
S + be(was/were)

Negatif:
S + did not + V1
S + be(was/were) + not

Question:
Did + S + V1
Did + S + bare infinitive be (was/were) + S
 Function Fungsi Contoh Simple Past Tense

[short]He closed the window.

(Dia menutup jendela.)

[short]Did he come on time?

(Apakah dia datang tepat waktu?)

[short]The party was started at 10.00 a.m.

Simple past tense untuk membicarakan aksi yang terjadi pada waktu
tertentu di masa lampau (panjang atau pendek, satu aksi maupun
berseri).
(Pesta dimulai jam sepuluh pagi.)
[short, berseri]The child run across the yard then jumped the fence.
(Anak itu berlari melintasi halaman kemudian melompati pagar.)

[long]Did you sleep enough last night?

(Apa kamu cukup tidur semalam?)

[long]I studied civil engineering for almost 4 years.

(Saya belajar teknik sipil selama hampir 4 tahun.)

I often did exercise in the gym when I lived in Bandung.

(Saya sering berlatih di gym ketika tinggal di Bandung.)

Simple past tense untuk membicarakan kebiasaan pada masa

lampau. When I was a senior high school student, I always got up at 4 am to
study.
(Ketika saya sma, saya selalu bangun jam 4 pagi untuk belajar.)

If she studied hard, she would be pass.

(Jika dia belajar keras, dia akan lulus.)
Simple past tense digunakan pada if conditional tipe 2.
I would buy a sport car if I had much money.
(Saya akan membeli mobil sport jika punya uang banyak.)

Positif:
