Total Pressure(Force):

Important Note:

Illustrative Exercises:

Problem 1. Find the force on one face of a right triangle of

sides AB = 4 feet, AC = 3 feet submerged with AC vertical and
AB in the surface.

Problem 2. A horizontal cylindrical boiler 6 feet in diameter is

half-full of water. Find the force on one end. If it is full of
water how much pressure is exerted on one end?

Problem 3. Find the force on face of a square 2 feet on one

side, submerged with one diagonal vertical and one corner in
the surface.

Exercises:

Problem 1 : Find the centre of pressure of an

isosceles triangle submerged with the line of
symmetry vertical and the vertex in the surface.

Problem 2. An isosceles triangle submerged with line

of symmetry vertical and the base in the surface.
Find the centre of pressure.

liquid container or at the bottom
portion of the liquid mass.

symmetry for a simple analytic
geometry
Illustrative Exercises

Problem 1 . A tank is made in the shape of a right

circular cylinder surmounted by a frustum of a cone,
the vertical section shown in figure 69. The tank is
full of water. Find the work needed to pump all the
water out the top.

Problem 2. A tank is made in the form of a cone, of

base radius r and height h, surmounted by a right
circular cylinder of base radius r and height H. The
tank is full of water. Find the work done in pumping
all the water out the top of the tank.
