SURVIVAL
BY
CATEGORY
Overview of how the 424 that did not make it alive were
categorised
From a total of 714 passengers, 424 coudn’t make it out alive and 290 were rescued
The ship consisted of people from age 5 months to 79 Years, which were split into 8 classes
The Ship had about twice the number of men, as compared to women, 453 men & 261 Women
The fare ranged from $5 to $500, and the average fare was $35 accross 3 classes of passengers
SURVIVAL BY
GENDER
Overview of how gender impacted survival
The ship had about 453 men & 261 women and yet more women survived than men
Out of the total survivors (290) 68% were women & the rest were men
This shows that the women were let out of the ship first and given priority into the rescue boats, Whereas most men were helping the
crew evacuate and control the situation
SURVIVAL
BY CLASS
Overview of how socio-economic status impacted survival
The ship contained 186 - class I, 173 - class II, 355 - class III passengers
The number of survivors across class I,II & III is reducing about linearly 122 -> 83 -> 85
Out of the total survivors, 42% were class I passengers and class II & III were 29% respectively
This data depicts how the higher class survivors were given priority
SURVIVAL
BY AGE
Overview of how socio-economic status impacted survival
This indicates that the priority was given to people of younger ages
Majority(65%) of the age class 3 passengers are MALE, which is the least surviving gender
Majority(56%) of the age class 3 passengers are Lower Class, which also has a survival rate of only 24%
Age class 3 contains 42% class 3 men, which combined have the least survival rate
hence, there is a non linear dip in the survival by age graph, marked by class 3 which includes a majority of class 3 men
CONCLUSIO
N
Hierarchy of survival
The hierarchy of survival was lead by women, being 68% of the total survivors
