Human African trypanosomiasis,


also known as sleeping sickness, is
a vector-borne parasitic disease. It
is caused by protozoans of the
genus Trypanosoma, transmitted
to humans by bites of tsetse flies
(glossina) which have acquired the
parasites from infected humans or
animals.
