What is an international marriage

International marriage is a marriage between two people from different countries.


History (Harvard Law School,2010)
• American citizenship through marriage began in 1855
• 1922 Cable Act changed women citizenship
• In 1931, Eliminated racial barrier to women citizenship
• 1924 Immigration Act allowed Asian citizenship

Today (Harvard Law School,2010)


• In 1965, marriage is an important role in immigration
• In 1986, joint ownership of property
