 Who is Melanie Martinez?
Melanie Adele Martinez, also known
simply as Melanie Martinez, is an American singer, songwriter and
photographer, born on April 28, 1995 in New York City, United States.

Childhood, Youth and Family Life

She grew up with her father Jose her mother mercy and her brother Joseph,
she has both Puerto Rican and Dominican roots, since she was little Melanie
has always been interested in music she would spend her free time listening
yo her dad CDs especially the Beatles as well as hip-hop albums.
She started to sing when she was three years old and started to play the guitar
when she was four years old.
He attended Baldwin Senior High School during his high school where he
developed a penchant for photography.

When she was a teenager she started to upload videos to

YouTube as well as perform at open mics in long island, she
was also passionate about photography especially portraits
and conceptual Works.
In 2012 when she turned seventeen years old a big
opportunity came to her she auditioned for the third season of
The Voice and she won over three of the four judges with her
versión of toxic but Britney Spears , Adam Levin became her
coach and although she was eliminated in the fith week , she
didnt give up and took advantage of her fame from show to
keep working on her music.
 Career and Legacy
In 2013 she went in an acoustic tour where she would sing the songs she sang in the
Voice as well as her own songs .
Finally in 2014 she signed a contract with Warner and published her firts EP her
debut single “DOLLHOUSE” which she describes as heavy child is a song filled
with somewhat unsettling baby sounds some such as the ones made with pianist for
babies ,music boxes and other toys ,the thing is Martinez has always said that she
has a very strong connection with her chilhood.
After dollhouse door and after carousel was chosen as the soundtrack for the trailer
of American Horror Story freak show,in August of 2015 she released her firt studio

Cry baby which also features her alter ego
unlike her EP cry baby has a bigger
percussion deputing number 6 of the
Billboard Rankin.
The álbum has 13 songs most of them
composed by Melanie.
It serves as the first installment of his
trilogy project, depicting the birth of Cry
Baby. The tracklist follows the dreamlike
but terrifying story of Melanie's alter ego,
"Cry Baby," a girl who grows up in a
broken family and learns to navigate the
world.
 K-12
The second album came out with a movie
with the same name K-12 both were
released in september 2019 and the movie
was described as a surreal dark comedy
musical that narrates the story of the
álbum itself. Melanie participated in all the
phases of the filming
direction,makeup,clothing,etc,this album
made her reach 10 million subscribers.
In k-12 the girl from cry baby becomes an
adult and it touches upon very important
topics such is gender discrimination
securities and friendship as always
mystery and darkness play an important
role.
 After School
After School is the fourth extended play
by American singer Melanie Martinez. It
was released through Atlantic Records on
September 25, 2020.
The EP consists of seven songs and is a
marker of Melanie's personal growth in
life. Some of the songs included are "The
Bakery", "Notebook" and "Test Me".
And melanie has also mentioned
influences such as Kimbra face,Regina
Spektor and Lana del Rey.Her aesthetics
follow the same line,she calls her self a
Lolita from the 50s so with her pastel
color dresses estravagant pendants and
very elaborated makeup that fits.
 PORTALS
PORTALS is the third studio album by
American singer-songwriter Melanie
Martinez.The album was released on
March 31, 2023, by Atlantic Records. It
serves as the third installment of his
trilogy project, depicting the death and
reincarnation of Cry Baby.
All of the songs on this album are based
on past-life regression therapy books that
I've been reading for a few years,
particularly the intermediate phase
between death and life.
Portals is mainly an alternative, art pop
and art rock album with dark pop
elements. In fact, she had a concert of The
Portals here in Mexico, which I was able
to go and I brought them the tickets so
they could see what they were like.
