 Multimedia Arts is the creation of images and content using the latest design techniques and
technology. Multimedia art includes the following elements - audio, still images, text,
video, animation, and interactivity.

Multimedia Application is an application which uses a collection of multiple media sources

Last week - text, graphics, images, sound/audio, animation and/or video. Examples of Multimedia
Application includes - World Wide Web, Video Editing, Video Conferencing, Interactive
session TV, Home Shopping, Online Classes.

We also discussed practical benefits of multimedia which for all of us it enhances user
enjoyment and satisfaction.

Multimedia, is simply the usage of
more than one media element.

TEXT
+ Text is the fundamental element of
multimedia.
+ Text is something that contains
words to convey your thoughts.
+ A good choice of words or text
could help to communicate better.
GRAPHICS
+ An illustration (drawing, diagrams, images,
sketch, pictures, figures, etc) or dimensional
character.
+ Could be produced manually (by drawing,
painting, carving, etc.) or by computer
generated graphics technology.
+ Graphics is used to show more clearly
what a particular information is all about
through a diagrams, illustrations, images,
or infographics.
ANIMATION
+ Animation is an illusion of motion
created by the repeated display of
images of fixed elements.
+ Animation is used to further
enhance and improved the
experience of the user to
understand more the information
communicated to them.
VIDEO
+ Video is a motion pictures or
photos in motion or moving
pictures.
+ Video is also considered as a
construction and reconstructing of
motion.
+ Video is a live recording as in
comparison to animation which is
repeated display of images.
AUDIO
+ Audio is produced by sound
vibration.
+ In multimedia, audio could come
in the form of speech, sound
effects and musical sound.
IMAGES AND
PHOTOS
+ Images, photos, or pictures are type of
media displayed as visual information.
+ Images could be photographs, images,
drawings, or paintings.
+ Images are used to provide information and
create interest.
+ A photography image is made up of dots
called pixels.

 Non – Linear is a type of multimedia, wherein the person
needs to work together or interrelate with a computer
application or program, making him in control of the

In other words, you can be more interactive with a nonlinear multimedia than you
can be with a linear one.

+ Multimedia in Business/Schools - multimedia based include presentations, training,
marketing, advertising, product demos, databases, catalogues, and networked
communications.
+ Multimedia in Mobile Devices - MMS (Multimedia Messages Services) is a store and
forward method of transmitting graphics, video clips, sound files, and short text messages
over wireless network. It also supports email addressing, so the device can send-emails
directly to communication between mobile phones.
+ E - Commerce (Electronic Commerce) - Involves using web to serve clients and customers
and is one way to provide solutions for someone that wish to sell products or services online.
