A Brief Story About The Company

• 3M is widely regarded as one of the most innovative companies in the


world. It is a diverse technology company that offers a wide range of
innovative products and services to customers and communities.
• At the moment, half of the world's population uses at least one of 3M's
50,000 products on the market.
• Their ideology is decentralization, which keeps the organization from
becoming hierarchical and bureaucratic.
• One of 3M's distinguishing features is its high tolerance for failure.
Because trial and error is their primary source of invention, it appears that
they sometimes encourage failure.
• Employees at 3M are encouraged to experiment with new ideas as
frequently as possible, and they are assured that failure will not be blamed
on them.

• Employees have to spend 15% of their time working on developing products.
• Technical people meet senior people regularly.
• Part of revenues was to be concerned from the latest products (25%) which have been launched no longer than 5 years ago. It
encouraged middle level managers to come up with innovative ideas.

• 3M doesn’t use monetary system for rewarding employees.
• Person who were awarded as Champion could potentially become CEO of the division which they belong.

• It has a philosophical hiring system.
• People who se set apart themselves & are loyal are preferred.
