Swimming Performance

experiments
Swimming Performance Experiments
• Swimming speeds were not corrected by the “solid blocking effect”
because the cross‐sectional area of the fish never exceeded 10% of
that of the respirometer (Bell & Terhune, 19 -70). – Fish Metabolics
paper.
Respirometry Experiments
• Background microbial respiration inside the respirometer was
calculated with no fish for 10 min at the end of each trial (i.e. blank
run) to correct metabolic rates.
• Measurements of oxygen consumption of individual fish were
recorded during the Ucrit swimming test.
