The end of World War II was the beginning of a dynamic phase for Nestlé.
Growth accelerated and companies were acquired. In1947 came the merger

Project Brief:
6 weeks Internship program in Nestlé
Pakistan Ltd., Kabirwala Factory was
started on 11 July, 2018 and successfully
completed on 21 august,2018. During this
internship program the main focus was on
IPM in factory and beetles control in MGH
for 3 Weeks.
I started my work in Quality Assurance
department under the supervision of Sir
Adnan Bashir where he assigned me the
projects of ‘IPM and beetle control’. For
working on this project I got guidance from
Sir Abid Javed.

Introduction
Integrate pest
Management(IPM);

Totebin (Powder plant)

Egron
This is a tower in a five storey building where the concentrated
milk is converted into powder form by hot air.
The powder production can be divided into following three main
steps;
•Pre-heating
•Pasteurization
•Evaporation
•Drying
In totebin powder is preserved in the bins before packing into the
laminates
.
•Tote bin 1
• Tote bin 2
Started working in totebin hall 1, we found some issues of beetles. My project identification
source of beetles. Some of the cracks are found here. we place pheromone traps here.
Pheromone traps is mostly used to attract beetles. I also visit TPM pilot lines, here we
count beetles in each trap, few traps were already installed then we check control level in
totebin hall, all the beetles attract to pheromone traps, two types of traps we have;
•Red flour type trap.
•Confused flour type trap.

Same procedure of traping done in totebin hall 2 on the very

next day I observed all the traps and make decision which type
of beetles are present more so according to that information
action plan was made by me.

Results: Significant number of beetles decreased .

Nestle distribution center (NDC)
•Visit warehouse area.
•some of the issues found here like birds dropping in block area.
•Beetles found in bucket of Maggi.
•smell near trucks.
•found some small insects in back side of storage lines.
•flies and insects of different types are here.

Dry storage area in NDC

• Birds dropping.
• beetles.
• Small insects.
• Flies.
All these are present but in low level .
Pallet Area Storage(PAS)
• Low number of insect found, they may be entering
through any wooden tray.

Liquid product storage(LPS)

• No dirt was found in that place and no observation
of pests.

Raw material storage(RP)

• Confectionary hall
• HB hall
• FB Hall
• RP Hall 1
• RP Hall 2 were visited for the beetle hunting.
Confectionary hall
• Few issues, like automatic doors are not installed
• Gate 1 cover sheets are missing.
• Less no. of insecticuters.
• Birds were also found there.

HB Hall
• Birds and flies were observed in warehouse area
• Cleaning is on medium level.

RP Hall 1 & RP Hall 2

• Neat hall 1.
• But insecticuters must be installed there.
• Smelly area of RP Hall 2.
• Small holes in last door where entry of pest occurs.
Waste water storage area
•Smelly area, insects, flies were found in medium level.
•Birds, snakes, Rodents and houseflies were found in high level.
.
Boundary wall
Snake and beetles were found near the boundary wall. Holes and cracks in wall and grassy ground.

19
Plantation is the major source of insect entry in wall

20
Gate 1 and 2

•Some areas where chances of pests entering occurs; cockroach entry from there.
•Near office and parking area and in wall that combine industry and hostel of nestle
