EARLY LIFE
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm on 14 March 1879 into a family of secular
Jews. Albert attended a Catholic elementary school, from the age of five. At
the age of eight, he was transferred to the Luitpold Gymnasium where he
received advanced primary and secondary school education. In search of
business, the Einstein family moved to Italy. Einstein, then 15, stayed in
Munich to finish his studies at the Luitpold Gymnasium. His father intended
for him to pursue electrical engineering, but Einstein clashed with the
authorities and resented the school's regimen and teaching method.
During this time in Italy he wrote a short essay with the title "On the
Investigation of the State of the Ether in a Magnetic Field". Einstein
excelled at math and physics from a young age, reaching mathematical level
years ahead of his peers. The 12-year-old Einstein taught himself algebra
and Euclidean geometry over a single summer. He also independently
discovered his own original proof of the Pythagorean theorem at age 12. He
then started teaching himself calculus at 12. In 1895, at the age of 16,
Einstein took the entrance examinations for the Swiss Federal polytechnic
school. He failed to reach the required standard in the general part of the
examination. Then in 1900, passed the exams in Math and Physics and was
DISCOVERIES
Throughout his life, Einstein published hundreds of books and articles.
On 5 December 2014, universities and archives announced the release of
Einstein's papers, comprising more than 30,000 unique
documents. Einstein's intellectual achievements and originality have
made the word "Einstein" synonymous with "genius”. In addition to the
work he did by himself he also collaborated with other scientists on
additional projects including the Bose–Einstein statistics, the Einstein
refrigerator and others.
Albert Einstein is justly famous for devising his theory of relativity,
which revolutionized our understanding of space, time, gravity, and the
universe.

 E=mc2
 Brownian Movement
 Special Theory of Relativity
 General Theory of Relativity

 The Nobel Prize in Physics 1921 was awarded to
Albert Einstein “for his services to Theoretical Physics,
and especially for his discovery of the law of the
photoelectric effect.” He also won Matteucci Medal in
1921.
 Sir Albert Einstein was awarded the 1925 Copley
Medal in recognition of his theory of relativity and his
contributions to the quantum theory.
 The Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) also awarded
ACHIEVEMENTS him, also in London, its highest award, the Gold
Medal in 1926. The Gold Medal is awarded for special
performance in the field of astronomy. He won Max
Planck medal in 1929. It was awarded in recognition
of his fundamental contributions to theoretical
physics, especially for his theories of relativity and his
work on the photoelectric effect.
 He also won Barnard Medal for Meritorious Service
to Science in 1920.
 In 1935, Einstein was awarded the Franklin Institute's
Franklin Medal for his extensive work on relativity and
the photo-electric effect.
FINAL YEARS
Einstein spent his final years doing what he
wanted to do: working, sailing, and enjoying life.
In 1932, Albert Einstein was offered a position
at the Institute for Advanced Study in
Princeton and he accepted. He became a
resident of the United States in 1935 and was
granted citizenship in 1940.He retired from his
post at Princeton in 1945. After the
first atomic bomb was dropped, he became part
of an international effort to control the bomb
and formed the Emergency Committee of
Atomic Scientists.
Date of death: April 18, 1955
Cause of death: Abdominal aortic aneurysm
