Material Balance

 A solution containing 10% NaCl, 3% KCl and 87%


H2O is fed to the process shown at the rate of
18400kg/hour. The composition of the streams
are as follows in %age. Evaporator product (p)
have NaCl= 16.8%, KCl= 21.6% and H2O= 61.6%.
Recycle(R) NaCl = 18.9% and the balance is H2O.
Calculate the every stream in kg/hour.

 Sea water is to be de salinized by reverse osmosis
using the Scheme indicated. Use the data given in
the figure to determine,
a. Rate of waste brine removal (B).
b. Rate of de salinized (potable H2O) production (D)
c. The fraction of brine leaving the osmosis cell as a
recycle (use separator for this stream).
