Truthfulness and Accuracy
of Material Viewed
Learning Competency

This lesson serves as an enrichment lesson for the following


DepEd competency:

● Determine the truthfulness and accuracy of the


material viewed (EN7VC-I-f-9, EN7VC-III-a-13,
EN7VC-II-h-12, EN7VC-III-e-14 EN7OL-III-h-1.3.1).
Objective

At the end of this lesson, the learner should be able to


identify the different guidelines to determine truth
and accuracy of a viewed material.

Warm-Up

1. Ponder upon this question:


“Was there ever a time in your life when
you read about something and believed it,
only to discover later on that it was fake
or inaccurate? What did you do?”

2. Share your experience in class.


Unlocking of Difficulty
1. veracity (noun) – the accuracy or correctness of something
Whenever I read about something that I find dubious, I research it to check its veracity.

2. media (noun) – a medium of communication (such as newspapers, radio, or television)


that is designed to reach the mass of the people
Newspapers and other similar forms of media serve to both inform and entertain us.

3. bias (noun) – the tendency to believe that some concepts or ideas are better than
others
Let us all put aside our personal biases and unite to solve this problem.

4. legitimate (adjective) – real, official, or accepted


Having just passed the board exams, Meredith is now a legitimate dentist.

5. reliable (adjective) – likely to be true or correct; can be trusted or depended on
