Following the Second World War a new optimism emerged as a
consumer boom erupted in the USA. The cultural scene
also expanded, boosted by many European creatives and
intellectuals who had fled Nazi Europe, and the teenager emerged
as both a market and creative force. Design became more
elaborate, with bright colours that celebrated life - as personified in
cars
