BALANCE DIET
Definition - Balance diet may be
defined as one which contains the
various group of food stuff as energy
yielding foods body building food &
protective food.
Classification

1.Balance diet at high cost:-
it will include liberal amounts of
costly food such as milk, eggs, Meat , Fish & Fruits , Moderate
Quantities of cereals , pulses nuts & fats.
2. Balance diet at Moderate cost: -
These diet will include
Moderate amounts of milk, eggs, Meat , Fish & Fruits fats and liberal
amounts of cereals , pulses nuts & green leafy vegetables.
3. Balance diet at low cost:-
These diet will include small
amounts of milk , eggs, Meat , Fish & fats , and liberal amounts and
cereals , pulses nuts & green leafy vegetables

Food group
• Energy Yielding food –
This group includes foods in
carbohydrates and fats & also pure fats &carbohydrates cereals
roots and tubers dried fruits sugar and fat important energy
gelding foot.
• Body building food-
Foods rich in proteins are called body
building food milk ,egg, meat and fish rich in proteins of high
biological value,& pulses’, oilseeds and nuts & low fat rich in
medium nutritive value .

Protective food—
Food rich in proteins vitamins & minerals
are termed protective foods.
Protective food divided into two groups-
Vitamins, minerals proteins of high biological value E:g Milk ,
egg, fish.
Food rich in certain vitamins & minerals e:g green leafy,
vegetables & some fruits

1. The 7- food plan – The 7- food group plan was developed by the U.S Department of
agriculture in 1943 .

Lactating mother – 2800 Kcal
Industrial workers - light work -2400 Kcal
