Five things you wish people knew
about Dental Assistants…
1. Don’t clean teeth: Instead they are responsible for things such as (but not
limited to) taking x-rays, preparing instruments, assisting the dentist and
providing after care (duties vary depending on the state).

2. Keep the office running smoothly: as they are the eyes and ears of a dental
practice/facility.

3. Have days that are filled with non-stop action: no easy task as they are usually
on their feet, working hard all day long doing tasks like setting up for
procedures, sterilizing instruments, managing the appointment schedule, and
helping patients feel comfortable and at ease.
4. Are professionals: dental assisting is not a job-it is a career! They have
knowledge and understanding of a variety of skills necessary to do their jobs.
In addition it is one of the fastest growing occupations in the country.
5. Love what they do: dental assistants are dedicated to their careers and are
passionate about what they do. As the front lines of the dental office, they love
making people smile. After all, that’s the job.
