Outlines of Presentation

• Introduction

• Objectives

• Scopes

• Methodology

• Outlines of Thesis

• Implementation Plans

3
Introduction

• Evaluating structural components of superstructure to ensure they meet the

stringent requirements set forth by the code.
• A detailed assessment of the building’s intended use, environmental factors,
and material properties.
• Structural design of the proposed building must be not only supports the
anticipated loads but also provides safety, durability, and comfort for its
occupants.
• The final superstructure design must be meticulously documented, detailing
every aspect of the construction to facilitate compliance with ACI 318-08
standards.

4
Objectives

• To ensure the structural integrity of the building to protect occupants from

potential hazards.
• To adhere strictly to ACI 318-08 code requirements for superstructure.
• To design a building capable of withstanding environmental stresses over its
intended lifespan.
• To create a layout that meets the needs of occupants while optimizing
structural efficiency.
• To create a bar bending scheduling of slabs and to estimate the total amount of
the materials that meet the design code to maintain the balance between cost
and quality
5
Scopes

• Proposed Building is located at Taunggyi, Southern Shan State,

seismic zone IV.
• Analysis and design using ETABS-18 software for superstructure.
• Study on creating detailed drawings and specifications that reflect the analysis
results.
• Ensure on all design aspects to meet or exceed the requirements of ACI 318-
08.
• Study on accounting loading consideration such as for live loads, dead loads,
and seismic loads in the design according to ASCE 7-05 and MNBC 2020.

6
Methodology

It includes the choice of materials’ strength that comply with code

standards, coefficient method for designing the slab and special moment resisting
frame design concept for designing the concrete frame. Creating a bar bending
scheduling for slabs and estimating the total amount of the materials that meet the
design code to maintain the balance between cost and quality.
