HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION
Time veterinary consult Limited is owned by Dr. Kolawole
Olowoeyo. It was inaugurated in the year 2000; the firm has
three different branches located at karu, Jikwoyi and Ado in the
federal capital territory Abuja, Nigeria with the head quarters at
Karu.
Time veterinary consult offers different services both
home and clinical and has different sections ( clinical ,
poultry ,marketing/stores).

 There are three different sections in time Veterinary
consult, they include;

1. The Clinical section

2. The Poultry section
3. The Marketing section
The Clinical Section
In this section the following takes place
 Surgical operations
 Treatment of animals (in cases such as worm infestations)
 Vaccination of animals:
Anti- rabbies vaccine: this type of vaccine used to prevent
rabbies infection in domestic animals mostly cats and dogs.
Canine distemper, hepatits, leptospirosis, para-influenza and
parvovirus vaccine (DHLPP)

Cannine babesiosis: Canine babesiosis is a protozoan infection that is
transmitted through the vector tick. canine babesiosis occurs in different
dog species and is caused by a protozoa called Babesia.
Most Babesia cases are acquired through the tick bite, through the blood
transfusion that takes place during bite. especially in warm weather
conditions where the ticks are numerous.

Mastasis: this affects female goats or does, it is an inflammation of the

mammary gland(udder).

Scabies : This is the condition caused by Sarcoptes scabie mite which is a

highly contagious skin parasite disease.
Canine parvovirus; . This is a highly contagious viral infection that affects
dogs, this virus manifests itself in two main forms and the most common
form is the intestinal form, and the less common form is the cardiac form
which attacks the heart muscles of fetuses and young puppies often leading
to death.
It mostly occurs between the ages of six week to six old, as seen in
majorities of cases handled.

THE POULTRY SECTION

 In this section, we attend to domestic birds of all ages, that is,

from a day old chick to adult bird.
Activities carried out
 Brooding of day old chicks.
 Inspection/sanitation of birds.
 Feeding/water supply.
 Regular vaccination.
 De-beaking of birds (mostly in layers).
 Disease and pest control.
Brooding of day old chicks: This includes the cleaning and sanitization of an old
or a new poultry house and placing new sheets of paper, a feed tray(contained
with the mash or pallet starter feed), a drinker (containing water mixed with
glucose) and a bulb or a lantern to create warmth in the new poultry house for
the day old chicks.

Regular vaccination: The vaccination of birds was usually done from one week
old to four weeks old especially in broiler birds using the Infectious Bursal
Disease Vaccine(IBDV) and the Newcastle Disease Vaccine(NCDV).
The poulet (layers) breed of birds are also vaccinated afterwards from six(6)
weeks of age against fowl pox, fowl typhoid , fowl cholera etc.

THE MARKETING SECTION

 This section deals with animal care materials and drugs

mostly for domestic animals like the cat, dog, cattle, goat,
sheep etc.
 Skin care materials for pets which include; soap,
shampoo, clipper ,fur brush etc.
 Drugs for all animal breeds like the deworming tablets,
multivitamins, cod liver oil etc.
 Pet food / poultry feed.

Conclusion

During my industrial training, I learnt a lot about animal health

maintenance and diseases control and now I can also successfully
open a poultry farm and manage it as well.
So I really appreciate the SIWES department for this
wonderful opportunity to experience the real world outside school
environment.
And I also want to thank the department of zoology, the HOD of the
department of zoology Professor C.I Nsofor and all the lecturers
that have contributed to make my learning process a success.
