EMOTIONAL

INTELLIGENCE
WHAT IS EMOTIONAL
INTELLIGENCE
Emotional intelligence (EI) refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and
manage one's own emotions, as well as to perceive and influence the emotions
of others.
EI involves being attuned to one's feelings and those of others, and using this
awareness to guide behavior and decision-making.
According to Daniel Goleman, it is "the capacity for recognizing our feelings
and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and managing emotions well in
ourselves and our relationships" (Goleman, 1995, p. 34).
