• (a)Theme of the passage is God‘s relation with the
created world. It elaborates the events and the final outcome of the day of reckoning or end of time. That day will be marked by the most intense convulsions that will reverse all the normal physical phenomena. Mankind will be shocked to see earth emitting all its hidden contents, as mentioned elsewhere in the Quran: “and when the earth is flattened and casts forth what is within it and becomes empty” (84:3-4). Sura Zilzaal • (b) This passage asks Muslims to have strong faith in God’s power to end time and make all stand accountable before Him for the ultimate justice. With such a belief , Muslims will learn about the worthlessness of this world and realize the value of true worlds by saying: “Nay you prefer the life of this world, but the hereafter is better and more enduring” (87:16, al-A’la). Genuine and sincere faith in the hereafter shapes the conduct of Muslims. this belief reminds them of God’s mercy justice and powers. The Quran repeatedly talks of this theme by using several expressions that include: “when the sun is folded up” (sura: 81) “when the sky splits open” (sura 82-verse 1) and “when the earth is flattened out” (sura 84 ). The objective of this repetition is to remind Muslims of the Hereafter so they do good deeds while they live on this Earth. Quranic Passage:10 • 1. Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, 2. The King of mankind, 3. The God of mankind, 4. From the mischief of the whisperer who withdraws, 5. Who whispers into the hearts of mankind, 6. Among jinns and among mankind. Quranic Passage:10 • (a) This is Sura Al-Nas,the last Sura of the holy Qura’n, a Makki Sara. The main themes are: God as Lord; God as refuge; God as ProtectorThis Surah describes three Attributes of Allah the All-Mighty. He gives sustenance to mankind, He is Sovereign and He is Worthy of worship. All things are created by Him, possessed by Him, and subservient to Him. The three aspects in which Allah is man’s refuge, i.e. as his Rabb, sovereign, and object of worship; and Satan’s whisperings and how he tempts man. This sura teaches that Allah is the king and Rabb. He is the only refuge who protects the Muslims from Satan and his devil helper which may be from jinn and mankind. Satan entices people to commit sins as he makes evil attractive to men. Only Allah can grant protection from the evil of Satan. Allah says in Qur’an: "And so We appointed for every Prophet an enemy - devils among mankind and jinn, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion ... " ( Al-Qur'an 6:112) According to a Hadith, the Prophet said, "With everyone of you there is a devil." The Companions asked, "Is there a devil even with you?" The Prophet said, "Yes, but Allah has granted me protection against him."" Occasion of Revelation • . Surah Nas was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) at a time when His health was affected and he “ started imagining that he had done a thing he hadn’t really done” narrated Aisha ( may Allah be blessed with her) But the Holy Prophet’s position as a Prophet remained wholly unaffected by it.Only in his personal life, by black magic which was done by a Jew called Labeed bin Aasim. Labeed did the magic by a comb and the hairs stuck to it and the skin of pollen of male date palm in the well of Dharwaan. Quranic Passage:10 (b)The prophet Muhammad recited surah Al Nas before sleeping, after each prayer and when the Muslims fall ill they can use it in Ruqyah.” The benefits of surah Nas are that it lets the Muslims know about the bad and right way of life. In this surah, the Muslims are informed that Shaitan wants to apply many tricks to distract them from the way of heaven. Therefore, the Muslims need the help of Allah to protect them from Satan’s way. Therefore, the Muslims are exhorted to recite it after every prayer. The Prophet also urged Muslims to read the Sura Al-Nas and Al-Falaq three times in the morning and evening with Surat Al- Ikhlas and that their reading suffices a person from everything. The Prophet used to recite these two Suras when he went to bed, blow his hands and wiped all his body. The Muslims believe that this Sura protects them from devil eyes and magic.
