Properties, calculation of area of
parallelogram.

In a parallelogram, the opposite sides

are of equal length and opposite angles
are of equal measures.

Area = b × h Square units

Properties, calculation of area of
Trapezium.
A trapezium has the following properties:
1. Like other quadrilaterals, the sum of all
the four angles of the trapezium is equal
to 360°
2. A trapezium has two parallel sides and
two non-parallel sides
3. The diagonals of regular trapezium
bisect each other
4. The length of the mid-segment is equal
to half the sum of the parallel bases, in a
trapezium
5. Two pairs of adjacent angles of a
trapezium formed between the parallel Area = (1/2) h (AB+CD)
sides and one of the non-parallel side,
add up to 180 degrees
Properties, calculation of area of
Kite.
Properties of a Kite:
• Angles between unequal sides are equal.
• A kite can be viewed as a pair of
congruent triangles with a common base.
• Diagonals of a kite intersect each other at
right angles.
• The longer diagonal is the perpendicular
bisector of the shorter diagonal.
• A kite is symmetrical about its main Area of Kite = 1/2*D1*D2
diagonal.
• The shorter diagonal divides the kite into
two isosceles triangles.
Properties, calculation of area of
Rectangle.
• In geometry, area of rectangle is
the region covered by the rectangle
in a two-dimensional plane. A
rectangle is a type of quadrilateral,
a 2d shape that has four sides and
four vertices. All the four angles of
the rectangle are right angles or
equal to 90 degrees. The opposite
sides of the rectangle are equal and
parallel to each other. To be noted,
a parallelogram also has its Area = length × breath
opposite sides equal and parallel to
each other but the angles are not
equal to 90 degrees.
Properties, calculation of area of
Rhombus.
Below are some important facts about
the rhombus angles:
• Rhombus has four interior angles.
• The sum of interior angles of a rhombus
add up to 360 degrees.
• The opposite angles of a rhombus are
equal to each other.
• The adjacent angles are supplementary.
Area of Rhombus, A = (d1 x d2)/2
• In a rhombus, diagonals bisect each
square units
other at right angles.
• The diagonals of a rhombus bisect these
angles.
Properties, calculation of area of square
Some of the important properties of a square are given below.
•A square is a quadrilateral with 4 sides and 4 vertices.
•All four sides of the square are equal to each other.
•The opposite sides of a square are parallel to each other.
•The interior angle of a square at each vertex is 90°.
•The sum of all interior angles is 360°.
•The diagonals of a square bisect each other at 90°.
•The length of the diagonals is equal.
•The length of the diagonal with sides s is √2 × s
•Since the sides of a square are parallel, it is also called a
parallelogram.
•The length of the diagonals in a square is greater than its sides.
•The diagonals divide the square into two congruent triangles.
Side x side = area of square
