Part I: General
Guidelines
Profile of an Ideal Gabrielan Student:

PRO-GOD who:

• Believes in one Supreme being who has dominion overall.


• Lives by Catholic virtues and practices.
• Is committed to study the Word of God and lives his life
accordingly.
Profile of an Ideal Gabrielan Student:

PRO – PEOPLE who:

• Establishes, promotes and preserves good relationship with his


fellowmen;
• Applies good social values in dealing with people from different
walks of life;
• Demonstrates preferential love for poor.
Profile of an Ideal Gabrielan Student:

PRO – COUNTRY who:

• Strives to be of service to his fellowmen;


• Believes and appreciates Filipino heritage and values;
• Upholds the constitution of the republic of the Philippines
especially the “diwa ng katarungan, kapayapaan, at
pangkamakabayan”.

• Knows, understands and upholds the value of family and life;


• Indulges in the progressive search for the enrichment of life by
means of wholesome activities;

Part II: General Rules
in Conduct
Deportment:

is the proper behavior of an individual within a given social milieu.


Proper decorum is expected of every Gabrielan at all times inside or
outside the school campus, whether in uniform or not.
Deportment:

• Politeness is meant by proper and modest manner of speaking


and acting. Since this virtue is one of the best ornaments of any
person, it should shine forth in every action and every word.
• Countenance should always be jovial.
• Be modest in looks, bearing in mind that ones eyes are the
windows through which sin can enter into the mind and heart.
• When hands are not occupied, keep them to yourself in
becoming posture.
• Be courteous in speech, always using charitable and descent
words.
Deportment:

• Avoid showing off, bragging or making too much of oneself. A


person who is humble enough to recognize and acknowledge
that whatever good s/he has, is not his/hers but comes from
God, will be pleasing in the sight of God and of his fellow men.
Offenses and Penalties:

• Outstanding achievements/performance done beyond the call of


duty has a bearing on the school life is worthy of note and
emulation. This is especially reflected in the conduct grades of
the student.

• On the other hand, violation of school routine procedures or lack


of cooperation with school rules and regulations which are
deterrent to student development and growth are discouraged.
Thus, after due process, sanctions commensurate to the offense
shall be administered.

Part III: Steps for
Disciplinary Actions
A. MINOR OFFENSES
• The complainant/personnel reports to the Homeroom
Adviser in writing about the matter.
• The Homeroom Adviser calls the student for a dialogue and
informs him/her of the reported violations/he had
committed.
• The Homeroom Adviser informs the Principal or his/her
representative, (Student Welfare Coordinator/Prefect of
Discipline, Academic Coordinator) about the case.
• The Principal or his/her representative investigates the
case. If proven guilty, parents are invited for conference,
informing them of the corresponding sanctions.
B. MAJOR OFFENSE:
• Same as the Minor Offense.
• A deliberation committee, (which may be composed of the
Homeroom Adviser, the SWC/POD, the Academic
Coordinator, the Activity Coordinator. the Christian
Formation Officer, with the Principal) may be formed.
• Parents are notified, student may present evidences in their
defense. Due process will be implemented.
• If the student is proven guilty, the parents and student are
asked to sign the Disciplinary Sanction Form.
• Sanction is implemented immediately.
MINOR OFFENSES:

• Improper wearing of the prescribed school uniform.


• Non-observance of dress code even on non-school days.
- See-through, plunging necklines, sleeveless blouses,
colored undershirt.
- Mini-skirts and body hugging skirts and dresses.
- Shorts (including walking shorts for male
population) and slippers.
MINOR OFFENSES:

• Improper hair style, i.e., skin-head, semi-bald, dyed,


undercut, not prescribed by the school. Hair covering the
forehead for both boys and girls are not proper. Hair
reaching the collar lines and upper earlobes are considered
long for boys. Girls should gather and tie their hair at the
back.
• Sporting of tattoos, earrings, nose ring, tongue rings, eye
brow rings, shell necklaces, wearing dangling and colored
earrings, any excessive jewelries.
MINOR OFFENSES:

• Unexcused tardiness and absences. Non-submission of


Letter of Excuse required from absence.
• Refusal to use school I.D. while in campus.
Borrowing/lending of I.D. cards.
• Using personal things of others without permission.
• Loitering during class hours and non-observance of curfew
time.
MINOR OFFENSES:

• Non-observance of rules in the classroom, church, chapel,


canteen, clinic and other student service areas and school
facilities.
• Entering off-limits areas. Going out of school campus
without proper permission from the Principal or his/her
representative.
• Gossiping/slander-making derogatory written or verbal
remarks.
MINOR OFFENSES:

• Use of school facilities or equipment without prior


permission from proper authorities.
• Allowing, entertaining outsiders during activities
exclusively for Gabrielans.
• Bringing and using items not related to academic work
without permission from proper authorities.
MINOR OFFENSES:

• Using cell phones and other electronic gadgets during


school hours, school programs and activities.
• Using profane and indecent language in and outside the
campus. Discourtesy. Name calling. Excessive teasing.
• Improper conduct during assemblies and similar activities.
SANCTION CATEGORIES FOR MINOR OFFENSE:
First Offense:
• Oral reprimand with Warning Notice.
• Notify parents/guardians.
• Deduction of 1 point from final conduct grade in the
corresponding grading period.

Second Offense:
• Issuance of Warning Notice.
• Conference with (HTL ? & SWC/POD) the Principal.
• Call for parents/guardians for conference.
Third Offense: Elevated to Major Offense
MAJOR OFFENSES (70% in conduct for the
following moderately serious offenses:
• Ten (10) unexcused absences.
• Forging signatures on letters, report cards, or tampering
with grades.
• Tampering of official notices or the attendance sheet.
• Cheating in any form, (quarterly, long tests, quizzes,
projects, etc).
• Cutting classes, (missing one or more classes without
permission, students is inside the campus).
MAJOR OFFENSES (70% in conduct for the
following moderately serious offenses:
• Truancy, (missing classes without the permission of parents
and school authorities, student is outside the campus).
• Bullying, name calling, using invective or profane language,
and quarreling.
• Unofficial use of school uniform outside the school
premises.
• Joining any objectionable media show.
MAJOR OFFENSES (suspension with 70% in
conduct for the following serious or grave
offenses):
• Fifteen (15) unexcused absences
• Brawls, fighting in campus. In cases when students are hurt
due to fighting/teasing which results to physical injuries,
medication or hospitalization will not be shouldered by the
school.
• Gambling in any form in campus or within school premises
or school functions.
• Unauthorized collection or solicitation of money, checks or
other instruments used as equivalent of money.
MAJOR OFFENSES (suspension with 70% in
conduct for the following serious or grave
offenses):
• Smoking or possessing cigarettes in or outside school.
• Possessing deadly weapon.
• Repeated truancy.
• Vandalism and/or any other forms of destroying school’s
properties.
• Posing and posting objectionable personal
photos/comments/ remarks in the internet and other
electronic gadgets.
MAJOR OFFENSES (suspension with 70% in
conduct for the following serious or grave
offenses):
• Possessing, disseminating or showing immoral literature,
indecent pictures or materials.
• Voyeurism (including photo and video voyeurism, R.A.
9995).
• Disrespect or disobedience to members of the
administration, faculty, staff, maintenance and other school
personnel.
• Insubordination or instigating others to insubordination.
• Rumor mongering of any sort.
MAJOR OFFENSES (suspension with 70% in
conduct for the following serious or grave
offenses):
• Possessing or taking alcoholic beverages in or outside the
school.
• Scandalous relationship, either with same or opposite
gender, PDA (Public Display of affection).
• Engaging in activities that will malign the name of the
school such as going to bars, disco pubs, going to malls in
school uniform, staying late at parties or peer gathering
held any day of the week beyond the knowledge of parents /
guardians / school authorities.
MAJOR OFFENSE SANCTIONS:

Moderately Serious Offenses

• Conference with parents / guardians by the (SWC/POD) or


Principal.
• Signing of disciplinary sanction form.
• Failing grade of 70% in conduct in the corresponding
grading period.
MAJOR OFFENSE SANCTIONS:

Serious Offense:

• Conference with parents / guardians by the (SWC/POD) or


Principal.
• Signing of disciplinary sanction form.
• Failing grade of 70% in conduct in the corresponding
grading period.
• One / Two day suspension with school work and
community service
MAJOR OFFENSE SANCTIONS:

Extremely Serious Offenses:

• Conference with parents / guardians by the (SWC/POD) or


Principal.
• Case deliberated.
• Signing of disciplinary sanction form.
• Failing grade of 70% in conduct in the corresponding
grading period.
• Three or more day suspension with school work and
community service
EXTREMELY GRAVE OFFENSE: (Dropping out
from school or RFT Recommended for Transfer)
• Twenty percent (20%) absences from total number of
school days.
• Receiving a Third suspension.
• Threatening another person with deadly weapon, or deadly
remarks.
• Immorality or acts of lewdness (like scandalous display of
affection) or the display / distribution of pornographic
materials within the school campus at any time.
• Abortion.
EXTREMELY GRAVE OFFENSE: (Dropping out
from school or RFT Recommended for Transfer)
• Habitual disregard of school regulations or reminders in
spite of official notices.
• Stealing, extorting money, shoplifting or any related act
inside and outside the school.
• Serious insult to any member of academic community.
• Serious case of vandalism.
• Possessing, taking, passing or pushing prohibited drugs,
hard / alcoholic drinks, coming to school intoxicated or
tipsy.
EXTREMELY GRAVE OFFENSE: (Dropping out
from school or RFT Recommended for Transfer)

• Disturbing the good order of the school such as stoppage of


classes and other related activities.
• Membership in fraternities / sororities (DECS Order No. 20,
5 , 1991).
• Proselytizing or attempting to convert a Catholic student to
embrace another religion or any other practices contrary to
the Catholic Faith.
