What is Intercultural
Communication?
Intercultural communication
happens when individuals interact, negotiate, and create meanings while bringing in their
varied cultural backgrounds (Ting-Toomey, 1999).
is the study of how interactions between various cultural groups affect communication
behavior. As a result, one perspective on intercultural communication is that it takes place
in symbolic intercultural settings. (Arasaratnam, 2013:48)
