ASME B 31.8 : Gas Transportation and
Distribution Piping Systems
This code prescribes reqts. for the design, fabrication,
installation, testing, safe operation and maintenance of :
Gas pipelines, Gas compressor stations, Gas
metering and regulation stations, Gas mains and
service lines up to the outlet of the customer's meter
set assembly
Gas transmission and gathering pipelines, including

MATERALS COVERED N ASME B16.5 :
Flanges and flanged fittings covered by this standard
are castings, forgings, and plate(for blind flanges and
certain reducing flanges)
Recommended bolting materials are also listed
Materials have been grouped to provide compatible
flanged joint ratings for materials likely to be used
together
The material having lowest "selected stress value at
any temperature is used to determine the rating for
the group at that temperature. Consequently, ratings
for some materials are conservative.
