Love and Marriage, or not…
• The U.S. divorce rate dropped for the third year in a row,
reaching its lowest point in nearly 40 years, according to
data released Thursday. The 2015 rate was 16.9 divorces
per 1,000 married women age 15 or older, which is down
from 17.6 in 2014 and a peak of almost 23 divorces in
1980.

• Marriage rates, on the other hand, increased last year. In

2015, there were 32.2 marriages for every 1,000
unmarried women age 15 or older, according to the
National Center for Family and Marriage Research at
Bowling Green State University.
Cultural Connection

In the United States, it’s obligatory at most universities to

live in the dorms during your first year. The majority of
students enter the university when they are 18. They are
required to share a room with 1 other person, who is
usually a stranger.
Cultural Connection

In the United States it is common in middle and upper

class families for grandparents to live in assisted living
facilities or in retirement homes. An assisted living facility
is a housing facility for elderly people who cannot live
independently. A retirement home is a housing facility for
elderly people that also provides medical care when
necessary.
